Robert Albert Thorogood

Partly raised by his grandparents, he helped on their farm in Utterson for a number of years of his childhood. Robert later moved with his parents to Orilla. He received his CET certificate and made a career as a machine-controller specialist, retiring from GL&V in Orillia.

Robert was a devoted Christian who cherished the Word of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ. He attended Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Orillia where he served as board member and treasurer for many years. He put his Lord first in his life and lived a life of devotion to Christ. This influenced his life in every way and molded him into the kind and patient man that he was. He took comfort in the hope of heaven and eternal life with Jesus. In later years he attended Evangel Assembly in Fredericton.

He was the devoted husband to Elsie (nee Nancekievill), his loving wife of 68 years. His devotion and love for his wife and family were very evident in how he lived his life. He is survived by his children, Dan (Karen), Chris (Randy Baker), Brian (Jody), Pamela (Mike Burt).

 

They will dearly miss their father but have the assurance of seeing him again in Glory. He will be dearly missed by his thirteen grandchildren: Sara (Daniel), Stephen (Jill), Jon (Meagan), Scott (Christine), Nicole (Ben), Matthew, Jessica (Nathan), Zachary, Emily, Joshua, Adeline, David, Aaron and 9 great-grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his younger sister Vi Sheridan (late Norman) and predeceased by his brother Gord (late Noreen). Bob will be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters in law. His legacy of love, strength, integrity, and devotion will live on through those he leaves behind.

Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle 

375 Westmount Dr N, Orillia

Saturday, October 17th at 11 a.m. in the lower level (back door will be unlocked).

Donations in lieu of flowers to Calvary Pentecostal Church, Orillia, or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada in his name will be welcomed.
